Can you help? Costa Rican seeking Phillips family roots in Inverkeithing

  • Ann Low Taylor
  • Andreu Philip

FROM INVERKEITHING TO COSTA RICA

Hello, my name is Marco Phillips and I’m writing to you from Costa Rica,  a small spot  in Central America, just a little north from Panama. In April I’ll be travelling to Scotland for the first time, with my wife and kids. The main reason for this trip is that, after a 23 years research, a cousin, who happens to be a genealogist, published the history of our family, tracing our roots back to our ancestors in Fife, Scotland. It was our dream to go there and visit the country, but we didn’t have any reliable information about our family until now. We finally have an specific place to visit, Inverkeithing, from there, more than a century and a half ago, the Philps, later changed to Phillips, departed with their children to América, in a 5300 miles journey, all the way to this country.

This is the most relevant data I have about my family in Scotland:

 Husband: Andrew Philp

Birth: August 07,  1790, Aberdour, Fife, Scotland

Christianization (baptism): August  21, 1790, Aberdour, Fife, Scotland

Marriage: July 27, 1814 Rosyth, Fife, Scotland

Wife Isabel Hoey (Hoy)

Birth: June 24, 1792, Strathmiglo, Fife, Scotland

Marriage: July 27, 1814, Rosyth, Fife, Scotland

Sons:

David Philp

Birth: 1823 Inverkeithing, Fife, Scotland

Death: 1885, Scotland

Andreu Philp

Birth: January 29, 1824, Inverkeithing, Fife, Scotland,

Married to

Ann Low Taylor

Birth: November 26, 1835, Lochlee, Angus, Scotland

Robert Philp

Birth: April 22, 1829, Inverkeithing, Fife, Scotland

Magdalin Philp

Birth: November 27, 1831Inverkeithing, Fife, Scotland

Andreu and his wife, Ann, came to Costa Rica in 1862. Andreu changed his name to Andres Phillips giving origin to our family, now there’s more than five hundred Phillips living in Costa Rica. These are the photographs of Andreu and Ann:

I know it’s almost impossible but we really appreciate if somebody could give some information about any relatives still living in this area, or any information about the town or just if you want to meet us there. It’s strange but in some way we fell like we’re going back home.

Thank you

Blessings

Memories, Nostalgia & History

History doesn't have to be in black & white

Your memory of a local character or a school photo from the last ten years can be just as interesting as wars and Victorians.
