Cash boost for Inverkeithing civic pride campaign

A funding application by Take a Pride in Inverkeithing has been given the green light at South West Fife Area Committee’s latest meeting.

An award of £20,000 was approved by the committee.

Councillor Alice McGarry, Chair of the South West Fife Area Committee said: “I am delighted to see the community spirit is high in developing a sense of civic pride in Inverkeithing”.

“The application for funding will help towards a number of environmental improvements in the area”.

The Friary Community Garden Group and other interested residents have been meeting together since the summer to identify potential environmental projects and do “hands on” work in relation to floral enhancements. This helped the town achieve a Silver in the Beautiful Fife competition.   The group have organised a public meeting in January to formally adopt their constitution and elect a management committee.
