Inverkeithing invaded by swarms of flying ants
21 JulyInverkeiting has been invaded by flying ants - as thousands of the creatures descended on the area, attracted by the mild, damp weather.
The swarms of flying ants are taking part in a spectacular annual mating ritual - although experts said there was no need to be afraid as the insects would not bite.
Large female ants pick one day a year to mate by sensing temperature, humidity and day length.
