Inverkeithing lady pays poignant visit to statue inspired by uncle
24 FebruaryThe famous 'Ambition' statue, once sited to the west of Pittencrieff House in Dunfermline was modelled on Mrs Pollock's uncle, William Galbraith, who was a schoolboy at St Leonard's school when the statue was designed in 1908 by Richard Goulden. She visited the college along with her daughter to see the refurbished statue for the first time.
After years of vandalism, the statue was moved for safekeeping, and the original, now restored to its former glory, now stands in the foyer of the Carnegie Conference Centre, with a replica in the refurbished Alhambra Theatre.
