4/12/2009Local group brings the big band sound to Inverkeithing

Do you like the big band sound? If you're a musician, a music fan - or if you're organising event, the Inverkeithing Community Big Band would like to hear from you.

One of Inverkeithing's longest-established musical groups, the Inverkeithing Community Big Band brings the classic music of Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Woody Herman and the other great Big Bands to life.

Featuring around 25 local musicians ranging in age from 13 to 90, the Band have been entertaining enthusiastic audiences in concerts across Fife and beyond for the last ten years.

Established with National Lottery funding, the aim of the Band is to raise money for good causes while promoting the 'Big Band' sound in the 21st century.

If you can play an instrument and read music, and you'd like to join the band you are welcome to come along to one of our rehearsals at Inverkeithing High School on Monday evenings 7pm - 9pm during school terms. There is no formal audition process - listen to or sit in on a rehearsal and see how you get on.

If you are just starting out you can benefit from playing with more experienced musicians, or perhaps you want to dust off your musical skills to enjoy playing music with others again.

The Inverkeithing Community Big Band is available for bookings to raise money for your good cause.

If you'd like to book the Inverkeithing Community Big Band for a performance just email info@communitybigband.co.uk or ring Joanne on 01383 825187.
