Local readers out in force for author's visit to library

A keen band of readers and creative writers braved the weather to visit Inverkeithing Library, Heritage and Civic Centre to hear best-selling Scottish author Robin Pilcher talk about his writing and read from his latest novel Starburst, which is set during the Edinburgh Festival.

Inverkeithing Library Supervisor, Daphne MacFarlane said: "Robin spoke very entertainingly about his background (which included a brief spell at school in Dunfermline), his various jobs and the double-edged sword nature of following in the footsteps of a famous mother, Rosamunde Pilcher, whose books are still very popular today.

"It was really interesting to find out that Robin is encouraging short story writers to share their work through his Shortbread Short Stories venture - a social networking website which he developed with publisher, William Thomson, a great grandson of Andrew Carnegie."
