New sailing safety course at Inverkeithing High
3 October, 2012If you’re looking to take to the seas, Inverkeithing High Community Use is running a new course aimed at keeping you save under sail.
The ‘Day Skipper’ course is aimed at equipping students with knowledge and understanding of safe sea passage in local waters - up to 12 miles off shore. The certificate awarded by the RYA (Royal Yachting Association) and is also a minimum requirement by HM Coastguard for job opportunities. Commercial Fishermen wishing to captain their own vessel are also required to complete this course.
Students will sit an exam at the end of the course.
RYA Day Skipper will cover the following areas
Navigation of local waters
Chart and compass work
First Aid
Health & Safety at Sea
Weather
